Almere
Photography: Ben Deiman
Almere is an attractive showpiece of architecture and detailed design set in a landscape that seems never to have been touched by human hand.
That Almere is a pleasant place to live is obvious from the quotations from local residents that are interwoven into the text of the book. The text itself, which looks at Almere's past, present and future, is written by well-known journalist Hugo van den Broeke, and he describes how it has developed from a small settlement to Amsterdam's sister city.
Almere is not intended as a book for the people of the city itself, but is for anyone with even just a passing interest in the fascinating subjects of architecture and urban development.
